The top 10 celebrities Brits are dreaming of right now

David Beckham and Martin Compston: the celebs who keep appearing in our dreams

New research has revealed that more than a third (38%) of Brits have dreamt about celebrities in the past year. And with restrictions being slowly lifted, 18% are dreaming of the future as they look to what lies ahead.

The research by luxury bedroom furnishings specialists The French Bedroom Company asked Brits which celebrities we’ve been dreaming about recently as well as enlisting the help of experts to reveal what these dreams mean.

Despite 27% of people being in a relationship with the person of their dreams, over a quarter of us regularly dream of an ex-partner (30%) or cheating (17%) and TV personality Scarlett Moffatt recently revealed she caught an ex-boyfriend cheating after dreaming that he had. Healer and emotional trauma expert Antonia Harman supports Scarlett’s doubts and says this could mean that “You have suspicions that you have been avoiding”.

Dream expert Lauri Loewenberg explains that dreaming of famous people could relate to “Your ability to shine and perform or to receive recognition and applause for a job well done. What the celebrity is doing in the dream may reflect how you are acting in life or in a particular situation.”

The top 10 celebrities Brits are dreaming of right now:

  1. Holly Willoughby – 18%
  2. Daniel Craig – 16%
  3. Boris Johnson – 15.5%
  4. Emilia Clarke – 15%
  5. Kim Kardashian – 14.3%

= Margot Robbie – 14.3%

  1. Philip Schofield – 14.1%
  2. Martin Compston - 14%
  3. Amanda Holden – 13.1%
  4. David Beckham - 12.9%
  5. Lewis Capaldi - 10%

Results show that Holly Willoughby takes the top spot with 18% of the nation dreaming about the This Morning and Dancing on Ice presenter in the past year. This is ahead of her presenting partner Philip Schofield who also features highly on the list with over 14% dreaming about him. When it comes to monthly Google search volume, far more people are searching about Holly (190,000) than her co-presenter Philip too (37,000).

Antonia Harman explains “If we dream of famous people, what elements of their character do you more admire or loath? What is related in your own life? It’s really about how you see that person and what is potentially lacking in you.”

Daniel Craig comes in second (16%), followed by Prime Minister Boris Johnson (15.5%) and actress Emilia Clarke (15%). With a monthly search volume of 190,000, the Game of Thrones star is one of the most discussed celebrities in the UK.

In joint fifth is Kim Kardashian with actress Margot Robbie (14.3%). Following her break up with Kanye West, over 200,000 have been searching for Kim Kardashian this month asking about her age, marriage, and residence.

David Beckham (12.9%) and Lewis Capaldi (10%) also make the list in 9th and 10th place.

Co-founder and creative director at The French Bedroom Company, Georgia Metcalfe, comments “Our research has highlighted that a large proportion of the population dream of celebrities, with those who are currently in the limelight dominating them. It is no surprise that the ever-popular Holly Willoughby is dreamt about the most, as one of the faces of ITV she is the lovely type of person we would all like to have in our lives.

“Keep track of your dreams by writing them down and see if any themes are repeating. This is also a great way of being able to investigate them further and find out if there are any hidden meanings.”
