Drinking oat milk can help your gut health because of its prebiotic properties. The great thing about oat milk, like the MYOM oat drink is that it contains a type of fiber called beta-glucans, and when you have that in your diet, it’s great for your gut, thanks to the bacteria you have inside you. When they get to eat beta-glucans, they’ll produce fatty acids, and those fatty acids go on to protect your stomach lining and intestines, meaning your gut won’t get irritated when you eat certain foods.

On top of that, since oat milk doesn’t have any lactose in it, it’s easier to digest than cow’s milk, so you’ll find you’re much less bloated and much more comfortable. That’s why switching to oat milk, even if you’re not lactose intolerant, can be an excellent idea.

You can buy probiotics as a drink supplement that you can take once a day, or perhaps as a powder you mix into your food, for example. However you take them, they’ll keep the bacteria in your gut at a healthy level so your digestion works at its best, and you won’t suffer any issues.

Prebiotics and probiotics might be an obvious way to keep your gut health in check, but did you know that liquorice can help as well? Liquorice soothes the stomach and has sealing properties to help repair the stomach lining if need be; plus it’s a great way to calm an upset stomach.

Some people don’t like the taste of liquorice, and if that’s you, don’t worry; you can find DGL to take as a supplement – that’s the liquorice extract, so it doesn’t have the taste associated with it, and you can take it in pill form. One thing to note, however, is that pregnant women ought to check with their doctor before taking DGL, as studies into side effects are ongoing.
