The Football Fans Most Likely to Cheat

When football returned to our screen after the 3-month hiatus, we all felt a sense of normality. The sport that is loved nationwide is back, giving us something to enjoy and get excited over again.

When it comes to football fans and their loyalty to their club, there’s no doubt they are as loyal as they come – but when it comes to fans and their partners, could the same be said?

The experts at GamblingDeals.com wanted to see if there was a correlation between unfaithful behaviour and supporting a particular football team.

To do this, 2,700 respondents were surveyed to find out if their partners had cheated and if so, which team did they support?

The Results

The team that trumped to first place for the fans that cheat the most, was Arsenal FC. A whopping 22% of survey respondents have been cheated on by a supporter of the mighty gunners. Having ranked fifth in a recent Compare.bet study of “The ‘Dirtiest’ Premier League Teams”, that utilised official statistics from the 2019/20 season, it seems it’s not just the Arsenal players that like to play dirty.

Falling shortly behind and placing second is the boys in blue, with 19% of people claiming they have been cheated on by a fan of Chelsea FC.

In third place with 18% is Manchester United fans, in fourth is West Ham fans (11%), and in fifth place is Leicester City fans, with 10% of the results.

The team with the fans that are most likely to stay faithful is Jürgen Klopp’s red army. Out of those asked who said their partner had not cheated, 23% of them had partners that supported Liverpool FC

The second most faithful fans are supporters of Brighton and Hove FC, with 21% of respondents having loyal partners and faith in fans of the seagulls.

In third place, and no pun intended, are fans of the saints, Southampton FC, with 16%. Followed by the Wolverhampton Wanderers, at 12% and placing fifth are Spurs fans, with 9% of the results.

Imogen, 27, Hertfordshire (Ex-girlfriend of an Arsenal supporter) said:

“I’m not surprised Arsenal are top cheaters, I was with my boyfriend for a few years and unbeknown to me he was also in a 4-month relationship with my best friend. They both kept it from me until one of our mutual friends asked me how my break up was going.

I said we were still together and she said that my boyfriend and best friend had been going on dates, sleeping with each other and they had told her that it had been going strong for a few months. When I confronted him he said 'Yeah I was going tell you, just ain't doing it for me anymore.”

Jess, 24, London (Ex-girlfriend of a West Ham supporter) said:

“Me and my boyfriend had been together for 4 years and last year we went to our mutual friend's house for a party. I had left early because he wasn’t being nice, as per, and he went home with one of our friends, friends from the party that night.

When I confronted him, he said it was a kiss and the girl ended up DMing me saying that she had no idea as he said he was single and they had slept together.”
