3 steps to making your own professional custom stickers during lockdown
Have you got some spare time during lockdown? Why not try making your own custom stickers?
They can be useful for so many things from; labelling everything in your cupboards or larder to branding the products you sell from your new business.
This article will help you to get started on how to make your stickers, from scratch, with minimal prior skills or money needed.
Firstly, you need to create a design. I highly recommended a tool like Canva or Crello. They have thousands of template designs so you can make incredible work in minutes.
The above image is a design for a honey jar label I created in less than five minutes on Canva.
Next, you need to print your design. If you already have a printer at home, great! If not, you can buy a simple home printer. Here are a few options depending on how serious you want to get:
- Entry-level - Epson XP-7100
- Highest quality - Canon Pixma Pro 100
Now you need some sticker paper. You have two choices; plastic or paper.
Paper is excellent for short term use and is recyclable. Plastic is more hardwearing, so will last longer.
If you want to stick with simple shapes, you can buy pre-cut labels and run these through your printer. To find suitable label sheets, search 'pre-cut label paper' in Amazon and loads of different shapes will appear.
If you want fancier shapes you can get a Cricut machine - it's so straightforward to use. For more information, visit their site. They also supply materials that can be cut with their cutter - it's a fantastic ecosystem of products.
Now all you have to do is get printing and enjoy. Your imagination is the limit. If you're stuck, Pinterest is a fantastic source of excellent ideas.
If you don't want to invest in all this equipment, there is an alternative. You can have loads of fun creating your own designs on Canva but have them professionally printed by a supplier, such as stickers from Sticker it. They've printed over 10 million stickers for 9000+ people all over the world.
If this has stocked your interest in creating your own stickers during lockdown, we'd love to see your creations. Please comment below telling us all about your creative endeavours.
