Explore a range of expat-targeted restaurants in Chidlom

Summer 2021 is here in Bangkok, and that means two things: heat and more heat. The summer months of March - May, which precede the rainy season, are some of the hottest and swampiest months of the year, forcing Bangkokians to stay indoors whenever they can. For those in Chidlom, restaurants located inside malls or that are fully indoors are top of mind as go-to locales to beat the sweltering heat.

While the area is noted for its high-end residential buildings and luxury shopping malls, there are tons of great restaurants in Chidlom that satisfy a variety of tastes and that have indoor seating.

Expats, pay attention. Here are some of the tastiest restaurants in Chidlom that serve up Western favorites, in order of casual to fancy.

Taco Bell

Ok, you may be rolling your eyes at this first pick, but hear us out. For years Taco Bell in Bangkok has been a fantasy that cruelly never came to life. While other Asian countries like Japan and China housed the Californian Mexican chain and dangled it like a carrot in front of our faces, we in Bangkok had to suffer and drool from afar.

Today, Taco Bell has opened all over Bangkok, though we have to give love to its first location inside Chidlom’s The Mercuryville shopping mall.

Americans, in particular, will love the improved quality when compared to their favorite late-night, post-bar grub hub back home. While it certainly is not healthy food, Taco Bell is still king of cheap Tex-Mex in Bangkok and will never be dethroned, making it a must-visit restaurant in Chidlom.

Flour Shoppe

Nestled into Central Chidlom’s food court area, Flour Shoppe serves up a beautiful selection of western dishes and a smattering of Thai favorites. But, as the name suggests, the best items are their biscuits, breads, and other baked goods.

Expats who have been searching for a killer breakfast that isn't rice-based will love Flour Shoppe’s breakfast sandwiches and burritos. Homemade biscuits and tortillas highlight their handheld breakfast offerings, but for Americans, this is one of the few places that makes American breakfast sausage patties.

You can also find a few sandwiches and western lunch items like salads and soups. And what shop in a Thai mall could without a handful of tasty pastries and cakes to give you a boost during the day.

Siri House

Siri House is a collective of restaurants and community market from the luxury property developer Sansiri. Located at the end of Soi Somkid, under the shadow of the Oz-like Park Chidlom, Siri House is home to restaurants Luka and Quince, as well as bar Jacqueline.

Catering to a ritzier crowd (as many restaurants in Chidlom are wont to do), Luka and Quince split the day between coffee and brunch items (at Luka) transition to fire-grilled meats and sides for dinner (at Quince).

Any time of day, Siri House will deliver a culinary experience unrivaled at any other restaurant in Chidlom.
