The nation’s greenest postcodes revealed

The latest research from Searchland, the development site sourcing specialists, has revealed where across the nation is home to the greenest pockets of the property market, based on the acres of green space per 1,000 residents. 

Searchland analysed data on the number of acres of green space per 1,000 residents across each region of England and Wales, as well as every postcode, to reveal where is home to the greatest abundance of green space. 

Nationally and Regionally

The research shows that across England and Wales as a whole, there’s an average of 21.2 acres of green space for every 1,000 residents. 

This climbs to 27.4 acres in the South East, making it the greenest region of the nation, with Wales (25.7) and the East of England (23.4) also ranking high. 

In contrast, London predictably ranks as the least green region of the nation, with just 15.9 acres of green space per 1,000 residents. 

Greenest Postcodes

However, when it comes to the greenest postcode pockets of the property market, it’s the SA63 postcode in Pembrokeshire that ranks top with a whopping 385 acres of green space per 1,000 residents. 

Perhaps most surprising is the fact that the London Borough of Havering’s RM4 postcode places second, with 379.7 acres of green space for every 1,000 residents living there. 

The PL10 postcode in Cornwall sits third with 274.4 acres of green space, with the RG3 postcode in Mole Valley (204.6) and the BS41 postcode in North Somerset (197.5) also placing in the top five. 

Surrey Heath’s GU20 postcode (185.8), the LL36 (176) and LL35 (175.6) postcodes in Gwynedd, SG10 in East Hertfordshire (164.3) and East Hampshire’s GU31 (158.5) postcodes complete the top 10 greenest in England and Wales.

But the house hunt for a greater level of green space doesn’t necessarily mean you are constricted to searching out in the sticks and, as our research shows, there are postcodes across multiple locations, including London, that rank as some of the greenest in the land.”
