Pet-cation: new data reveals the best locations in the UK to take your dog on holiday
Staycations are still popular amongst Brits, with 75% of Brits intending a UK overnight trip over the next 12 months. There are many benefits to taking a staycation, from skipping delayed flights and cancellations to discovering new parts of the UK. Plus, one of the many advantages which could be swaying Brits to staycation is that you don't have to leave your dog at home.
To help holiday-goers decide on where they, and their dogs, should go on holiday, holiday cottage company, Dream Cottages has analysed and ranked the number of dog-friendly beaches, open spaces, vets and pet stores across the UK to reveal the best holiday locations for you and your four-legged friend.

Yorkshire has been revealed to be the best place in the UK for a dog friendly holiday, with 23 dog friendly beaches and 580 open spaces to explore.
In second place is Devon, which has over 3 times as many dog-friendly beaches than Yorkshire, ideal for anybody who wants a staycation by the sea.
Dog-owners who want to holiday in Devon can explore Saltram's grounds, a Georgian mansion surrounded by acres of woodlands and riverside walks that any pooch will enjoy. Alternatively, they can visit Torquay's Dinosaur World, which is dog-friendly and indoors, making it perfect for a rainy day.

Pembrokeshire has the highest number of dog friendly beaches, making it perfect for those who are looking for a sandy holiday.
Dorset features in both lists, making it a great location for those choosing a staycation with their pets. Boasting 30 dog friendly beaches for holidayers to choose between. For fans of quiet beaches, Hesil beach is a long, sandy beach with shallow waters, making it perfect for dogs to swim and play. It’s typically quiet, so dogs can run and play without being disturbed. Weymouth beach is large with plenty of space for dogs to run and play. There is also a dog exercise area by the Pavilion!
