For most of us, autumn means retreating indoors, swapping watering cans for hot chocolate. But for Adam Frost — award-winning garden designer, BBC Gardeners’ World favourite, and all-round green-fingered storyteller — the season marks a different kind of adventure. He’s leaving his beloved garden behind (just for a bit) and hitting the road for his second UK tour, An Evening With Adam Frost.

Starting on 27 September at Colchester’s Mercury Theatre and finishing on 26 October at Edinburgh’s Assembly Rooms, the show promises more than gardening tips. This is Adam in his most personal mode yet — reflecting on the plants that have shaped his life, the people who have inspired him, and the unexpected adventures that have taken him far beyond the garden gate.

“I love how the live shows allow you to connect with the audience in a different way,” Adam says. “The show will tell stories of gardens, people, music and places — and hopefully put a smile on your face.”

Plants, People, and Playlists

Adam’s journey has taken him around the world, from designing a garden in Japan during a monsoon to meeting lifelong heroes. Alongside the horticultural tales, he’s weaving in something new for this tour: music. Each chapter of his planting life has a soundtrack, from Louis Armstrong’s What A Wonderful World to The Killers’ Mr. Brightside. There’s Springsteen, the Rolling Stones, Richard Ashcroft, Arctic Monkeys — all songs that evoke the moods, seasons, and corners of the garden he loves.

It’s a surprisingly tender twist from a man who describes himself as “an old romantic fool,” and one that makes the evening about more than soil and secateurs — it’s about life, joy, and the beauty of slowing down.

More Than a Gardener

Of course, Adam’s credentials speak for themselves. With seven RHS Chelsea Flower Show gold medals, multiple bestselling books, and a familiar face on BBC coverage of the Chelsea Flower Show and Morning Live, he’s inspired millions to get their hands dirty (in the best possible way). Off-screen, he’s passionate about nurturing the next generation of gardeners, having set up The Homebase Garden Academy to help young horticulturists find their footing.

His latest book, For the Love of Plants: Over 150 plants to bring joy to your garden and your life, published by DK in March 2025, is a love letter to the flora that have shaped his career and his home life in Lincolnshire, where he lives with his wife Sulina, their children, and Ash the cat.

Where to See Him

From Chester to Folkestone, Exeter to Edinburgh, Adam’s tour is set to be an uplifting mix of laughter, insight, and inspiration — a chance to see a much-loved TV personality in an entirely different light. Whether you’re a seasoned gardener or someone who can barely keep a cactus alive, you might just leave feeling like you’ve made a new friend… and maybe even picked up a few tips along the way.
